Eddie Van Halen unseen video
Eddie Van Halen may have passed away in October 2020, but fans still crave new material from the guitar icon, especially with Eddie saying he had albums worth of unheard and unseen material at 5150 Studios.
Today, a 90-minute video of Eddie jamming with his son Wolfgang in the studio on January 24, 2007 leaked. Fans have noticed that Eddie seemed focused on remembering how to play his parts, while a then 15-year old Wolfgang was seen as still looking like a novice on bass, playing his bass with a pick with the technique of a guitar player.
Van Halen filmed video before 2007 tour
This video was filmed just as Van Halen began to get ready for their 2007 reunion tour, which saw the return of David Lee Roth on vocals, and Wolfgang Van Halen replacing Michael Anthony on bass. Shortly after the reunion was announced and this video was filmed, Eddie Van Halen went to rehab, delaying the tour until later that year. None of Van Halen’s then current lineup attended their 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony that March, with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony accepting on Van Halen’s behalf, and performing with Velvet Revolver.
Van Halen ended up touring from November 2007 until summer 2008, later releasing a new album A Different Kind of Truth in 2012, and touring again in 2015 before Eddie’s health problems made him unable to tour again, despite planning an original lineup Van Halen reunion.
Van Halen members in 2024
In 2024, Wolfgang Van Halen continues to establish himself with his solo band, Mammoth WVH, earning critical acclaim and touring the world. Alex Van Halen remains relatively low-key, retired from music but with a book called ‘Brothers’ set for released. David Lee Roth has embraced a semi-retirement, focusing on his artwork and hosting a popular podcast where he shares stories from his legendary career. Sammy Hagar, ever the entrepreneur, balances his music with his business ventures, including his successful tequila brand, while also performing with his band, including Michael Anthony, who are playing a Van Halen tribute tour this summer.
