At the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, Pearl Jam delivered an incredible performance as part of their Dark Matter World Tour 2024. Taking the stage for nearly two hours, the band treated fans to a setlist that featured a blend of their classic hits and newer tracks from Dark Matter.

The concert opened with an atmospheric intro, leading into familiar tunes like “Lukin,” “Corduroy,” and “Why Go,” captivating the audience from the start. Lead singer Eddie Vedder engaged the crowd with his fluent Spanish, adding a personal touch to the evening’s experience.

Notably, the setlist mirrored their recent performance at California’s BottleRock festival, showcasing consistency in their festival appearances this year. Despite the festival setting, Pearl Jam included heartfelt moments such as dedicating “Unthought Known” to actor Javier Bardem, marking the debut on their tour.

Throughout the show, the band’s energy was palpable, culminating in memorable renditions of “Better Man,” dedicated to Spanish musician Miguel Ríos and his daughter, and a spirited cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.” Bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Mike McCready even playfully swapped instruments during the latter.

The concert concluded on a high note with the haunting strains of “Yellow Ledbetter,” although an originally planned song, “Setting Sun,” did not make the final cut for the night.

Overall, Pearl Jam’s performance at Mad Cool Festival showed off their enduring musical prowess and deep connection with their audience, ensuring an unforgettable night for all in attendance.
