Nickelback recently posted a video on X in support of Ryan Reynolds and his upcoming film, Deadpool & Wolverine. In the video, all four band members don Deadpool and Wolverine masks but quickly take them off, finding them too itchy. Lead singer Chad Kroeger then speaks directly to the camera, emphasizing that Nickelback, having faced irrational criticism throughout their successful career, wants to address any potential negative feedback about the film or Reynolds before it even starts.
“I’m Chad Kroeger. We’re Nickelback, experts in navigating irrational hate in the face of tremendous success. We have an important preemptive message for anyone thinking of criticizing the film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ or Ryan Reynolds. Here’s the facts. The first Deadpool movies grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office, making it one of the most successful series in the genre.”
Kroeger points out that the first Deadpool films were major box office hits, grossing over $1.5 billion and establishing them as some of the most successful in their genre. He goes on to list the film’s many accolades: two Critics Choice Awards, four MTV Movie & TV Awards, a GLAAD Award, a People’s Choice Award, two Teen Choice Awards, and two Golden Globe nominations. There is even speculation that Deadpool might receive an Oscar nomination.
“Two Critics Choice Awards, four MTV Movie & TV Awards, one GLAAD Award, a People’s Choice Award, two Teen Choice Awards. Two Golden Globe nominations and people are talking about Deadpool getting an Oscar.”
Then a photo of the Deadpool star appears as Nickelback’s song ‘Photograph’ starts playing. Kroeger added:
“As for Mr. Ryan Reynolds, just look at this photograph. That is a beautiful Canadian man right there. So yeah, let’s f*cking go.”
Seeing the clip made Reynolds very happy. He said in response:
“My god. I love those guys.”
The video then shifts to a photo of Ryan Reynolds with Nickelback’s hit song ‘Photograph’ playing in the background. Kroeger takes a moment to praise Reynolds, calling him a “beautiful Canadian man” and expressing enthusiasm for the film’s success.
Ryan Reynolds was deeply touched by the video, expressing his admiration for Nickelback with lots of appreciation.
