Maynard James Keenan is set to perform as Ozzy Osbourne is being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist this year. Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock Hall honor in 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath. Now, Ozzy will be inducted again and the celebration will include a bunch of his friends, with Billy Idol, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, and country star Jelly Roll among those performing a tribute to Osbourne’s work.

Also joining the tribute performance are Osbourne’s longtime collaborator Zakk Wylde, prolific record producer Andrew Watt, and Wolfgang Van Halen on guitar. The rhythm section will include Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, who was in Osbourne’s backing band for a few years, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who drummed on Osbourne’s previous two solo albums.
Jack Black is set to give the induction speech. Osbourne told Rolling Stone that the actor is “one of the few great actors that is also a genuine rock and roller and not acting the part.”
The Rock Hall Class Of 2024 will also include Cher, Peter Frampton, and Mary J. Blige, among others. The ceremony goes down in Cleveland on October 19th, and will be available to watch on Disney+ and ABC.
Ozzy talked about the musicians taking part in the performance and said: “Billy Idol is a rock icon. His music is timeless. Billy Idol should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Maynard has been a true family friend since 1997. He is such a creative force. There are few artists who can keep three successful bands going for multiple decades,” referring to Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
“Who doesn’t love Jelly Roll?” Osbourne added. “His voice is soulful, pure, and dirty. I’m so honored that someone would do this for me who I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting.”
As for Robert Trujillo and Chad Smith, Ozzy said: “The rhythm section is the anchor of the band, and you honestly couldn’t get a better rhythm section than Robert Trujillo and Chad Smith.”
