Over the weekend, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello announced he would be taking his solo tour to Australia later this year.
“HEY AUSTRALIA—LET’S GO! I’m bringing the high volume fury and the six string fight DOWN UNDER with two headline shows + festival sets at Byron Bay Bluesfest!” he tweeted this past Sunday (February 16th).
Among the many comments of excitement below his post, there was one user who wrote: “Do we still need to be vaccinated to watch your show?”
Morello quickly responded: “Please! Ask somebody next time before you make yourself look this stupid again.”
Another fan also brought up vaccines, tweeting at the guitarist: “You still making people get vaxxed? #GFY.”
Morello then echoed his previous response, telling the Twitter/X user: “Baby boy ask somebody before you completely embarrass yourself again.”
Over the last couple of years, there have been some misconceptions surrounding RATM and whether or not the band required a COVID-19 vaccination to attend their reunion tour.
Originally set to take place in 2020, their “Public Service Announcement Tour” was rescheduled to begin in 2022 as a result of the pandemic.
While the band themselves never set a vaccination policy, tickets were sold when some venues had local vaccine requirements. These no longer applied, however, when the shows did take place.
With RATM continuously facing countless accusations from fans about the band’s stance on vaccinations, Morello has frequently taken it upon himself to set the record straight. Last year, Morello responded to a now deleted tweet that criticized the band and made claims that they required a vaccination.
“No offense but you’re a fucking idiot,” Morello wrote in response to the Twitter/X user. “RATM has played 19 shows in the last 13 years and ZERO of those shows have required vax. Pass this along to your idiots friends por fa vor. Also, while you’re mewling about Big Pharma, how about Big Oil and Big Tobacco and Big Landlords and Big Military and Big Elon? It’s called Big Capitalism vs human beings and the our planet. So I accept your apology and let’s aim at the right target bubba.”
