Billy Joel is recovering after falling during a concert, and his family is asking him to slow down before he gets seriously hurt. The 75-year-old singer was performing It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut when he threw his microphone into the air. He probably meant to catch it, but instead, he lost his balance and fell. Fans were shocked, but Joel quickly got up and kept singing.
A source close to Joel said he got some bruises but didn’t break any bones. “He’s lucky it wasn’t worse,” the insider said. “Billy still thinks he’s young and doesn’t want to slow down. But this scared him. His family has been worried for a long time, and they hope he finally realizes he needs to be more careful.”
Joel has been married to Alexis Roderick, 42, since 2015. They have two daughters, Della (9) and Remy (7). He also has a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, 39, with his ex-wife, Christie Brinkley.
Because his wife is much younger and his kids are still small, Joel tries to stay active. “He runs around like he’s still young,” the source said. “But he has had health problems, and he’s not as strong as he used to be.”
Joel loves performing and still plays shows, including his residency at Madison Square Garden. Fans enjoy seeing him on stage, but after this scary fall, some wonder if he will start being more careful. For now, Billy Joel is still going strong, but his family hopes he will listen to their concerns and take better care of himself.
