Recently, Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced that they will be holding a series of “Fighting Oligarchy” rallies across the United States. According to Sanders’ website, they will be hitting the road to have “real discussions across America on how we move forward to take on the Oligarchs and corporate interests who have so much power and influence in this country.”

Joining their cause are Neil Young and Joan Baez, who will make an appearance at an upcoming rally in Los Angeles.

Taking place at LA’s Grand Park on April 12th, Young and Baez have been added to the free event’s lineup – which already includes Maggie Rogers, Indigo de Souza, Jeff Rosenstock, The Red Pears, and Raise Gospel Choir.

Speaking about taking part in the upcoming rally alongside Young and Baez, Jeff Rosenstock said: “It has been easy to feel powerless and alone since the election and seeing the massive crowds of people who are also tired of this bullsh*t attending these events (cornball alert) has filled my heart with hope.”

Young – who is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States – has been an extremely vocal critic of Donald Trump. The musician has previously called Trump “the worst president in the history [of] our great country,” a “disgrace,” and recently said that he thinks “the U.S. has lost its standing” on the world stage under Trump’s leadership.

However, earlier this month, Young admitted that he fears his criticism of the President may cause him problems when reentering the U.S. upon his return from his European tour later this year.

“When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket,” Young wrote on his website on Tuesday (April 1). “If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me.”

He continued, writing in part: “If the fact that I think Donald Trump is the worst president in the history of our great country could stop me from coming back, what does that say for Freedom? I love America and its people and its music and its culture. By these latest actions of our US government, it seems that those who speak out freely with their own opinions are now vulnerable to a non-existent Trump law.”
