Dave Navarro’s guitar tech Dan Cleary did podcast about the Jane’s Addiction drama, and AintNoRight.org‘s Hokahey wrote a recap. The podcast is about Perry Farrell’s fight with Jane’s Addiction in Boston and what led to it.
“Dave tapping Perry during Mt. Song was him telling Perry he’s going to solo again because Perry sang over him.
Perry at one point sees band all talking during show. They were trying to game plan how to keep the songs going. Perry becomes enraged.
Dan has Perry’s isolated vocals. They are almost frightening to listen to. He sounds like death singing, and like a lunatic when he starts in on band. It’s weird, because listening to it I immediately thought of “I’ve got the devil in me..” Then Dan says that Dave wasn’t even weirded about by the physical attack, but by how demonic Perry’s eyes looked. Says he’s never seen him like that.
Dan and Todd talk about how sad it is people don’t even know about the amazing shit that was planned and even already recorded that will now never see the light of day.
So many amazing songs we are never going to hear.
Ettys post about the crew and naming names didn’t even get jobs or names right. People that have been there for 17 years.
Perry struggled to even get his in ear monitors in correctly most nights. Sometimes thinks they’re in and they’re not. Has complete control over his sound.
Dan has so many nice things to say about Perry. And to some extent Etty. But there’s a side of him that’s different when he’s on whatever he’s on.
Dan is unequivocal that Perry would be fine one night and then a completely different human being the next, and that it’s not alcohol.”
