Former GUNS N’ ROSES drummer BREAKS SILENCE, expresses “DISAPPOINTMENT” following exit from the band, teasing rumors he was forced to leave.
Last week, it was announced that Guns N’ Roses would be parting ways with their longtime drummer Frank Ferrer. A statement made by the band on social media described his departure as an “amicable exit,” with them thanking Ferrer for his “friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence over the past 19 years”.
“Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006,” the statement continued, “helping anchor the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent outings featuring the reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan.”
Now, Ferrer has taken to instagram to address his exit from the band. While the drummer expressed gratitude towards Guns N’ Roses, he did admit that he is sad that his time with them has come to an end.
“The outpouring of love I have felt from the incredible fans of Guns N’ Roses and my peers over the past 24 hours has been tremendous,” he wrote. “I will have immense gratitude and love always for Axl and the band while at the same time, disappointment that this chapter came to an end.
“It has been an incredible 19 years. Guns N’ Roses has given me life-changing memories and experiences. A huge thanks to management, the crew, and fans for giving me memories that I will cherish for my lifetime. I hope I see you all again soon!”
A day after Guns N’ Roses announced Ferrer’s departure, they revealed that AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter would be taking over on drums.
Slash has wished Frank a happy birthday.
