As revealed by a recent photo of former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer on Reddit, he was allegedly on his phone before a massive accident.
In fact, this isn’t really anything new for him as there is a video from 2021 of him using his phone in his car while driving and clearly, this finally ended up accidentally taking someone’s life.
According to Variety, Josh Klinghoffer is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian in Alhambra, California. The incident occurred on March 18, where Klinghoffer was reportedly making a left turn while on his phone, striking 47-year-old Israel Sanchez. Sanchez suffered fatal blunt-force trauma to the head and passed away later that day.
The lawsuit, supported by video and photos from the suing attorneys, claims Klinghoffer was using his cell phone at the time of the accident. Although no arrest was made immediately following the incident, Klinghoffer’s attorney Andrew Brettler described it as a tragic accident. He stated that Klinghoffer stopped immediately after hitting Sanchez, called 911, and cooperated with authorities during the investigation.
In response to calls for accountability, attorney Nick Rowley, representing Sanchez’s family, asserted that Klinghoffer should be arrested and prosecuted for homicide. Rowley emphasized that Sanchez was a responsible pedestrian following traffic rules when he was fatally struck from behind by Klinghoffer’s SUV.
The band even previously explained how painful it was to fire him.
