Kid Rock has posted a video responding to Eminem and Taylor Swift endorsing his least favorite candidate.
“I love Eminem, we’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to people like him and Taylor Swift for standing up not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe. Thinking differently, and having the freedom to do so, is what makes this country great. My stance is unequivocally M.A.G.A.”
Kid Rock and Eminem, two of Detroit’s most prominent music icons, share a complex yet respectful relationship. Originating from vastly different musical backgrounds—Kid Rock rooted in rock, country, and rap fusion, while Eminem forged a path in pure hip-hop—their rise to fame in the late 1990s marked an era where Detroit’s music scene reached global attention. Despite stylistic contrasts, the artists hold mutual respect, frequently acknowledging each other’s influence and success.
The duo collaborated on Kid Rock’s 1999 album Devil Without a Cause, featuring Eminem’s contribution to the track “F*** That,” which added a distinct flavor of Detroit’s gritty, unapologetic style. Although they haven’t released much music together since, Kid Rock and Eminem have crossed paths at various events and shared public appreciation for each other’s craft.
Both musicians have been vocal about their pride for Detroit, contributing to the city’s revitalization efforts in recent years. Eminem, in particular, has worked to support Detroit’s underprivileged communities through charitable work, while Kid Rock has focused on promoting local Detroit businesses and organizations. Their relationship is marked by an understanding of the unique struggles and strengths of their hometown, uniting them as musical icons who continue to represent Detroit’s resilience and creativity.
