Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen recently revealed plans for the band’s final chapter.
In a recent interview with Loudwire, Jourgensen said:
“It’s all this whole thing that I’m doing with putting a bow on a whole career because I’m doing this tour, I’m getting this cathartically out of me, this early stuff.”
“And then we’re going to do one final album and one final tour, and it’s not going to be like KISS,” he continued.
“I’m not going to be coming back every week or month or playing all the casinos and all this other stuff. It’s just like one final album and tour, putting a bow on it and having Paul Barker come back into the band.”
This announcement symbolizes a significant milestone for Ministry during a period of intense touring activity and notable reunions. Post-Punk also disclosed the band’s upcoming ‘The Squirrely Years Tour.’ The performances will showcase their early catalog material, featuring songs from ‘With Sympathy’ and ‘Twitch.’
The band has completed a handful of successful tours recently. Ticketmaster documented their ‘Freaks on Parade’ tour with Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie in fall 2023. They followed this with the Hopiumforthemasses Tour alongside Gary Numan and Front Line Assembly in April 2024.
The Mosh highlighted the importance of Paul Barker’s comeback. The skilled multi-instrumentalist is rejoining Ministry after a 21-year absence. He will contribute to the band’s final studio album and participate in the farewell tour. Jourgensen’s KISS comparison emphasizes his commitment to a genuine farewell.
