During a recent interview with radio station KROQ, Linkin Park co-lead singers Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong touched on the positive reception Armstrong has received from fans. They said fans aren’t being ‘nasty’ to her despite rumors.

“First of all, you [Emily Armstrong] put in the work, and the fans know that. And they respect it. It could have been the other way. People could have been nasty or whatever. But they’re not like that. They really have been so supportive,” Shinoda said.

While Armstrong joining the band was met with some skepticism from a small group of fans last year, Linkin Park’s new album “From Zero” has been largely welcomed by their fanbase. The record debuted at number one in 13 countries, and their single “The Emptiness Machine” quickly reached the top of multiple Billboard charts.

In a recent interview with AltWire, Shinoda praised Armstrong and Linkin Park’s new drummer Colin Brittain for helping to usher in this new chapter of the band.

“For people who have been fans of LP for a long time, I think you’d appreciate that Colin and Emily came into the process as super capable artists who, in part, wanted to help Linkin Park become real again,” Shinoda told the outlet. “When they showed up, they were so supportive and encouraging. They’d say things like ‘I’m just here to help’ and ‘I’m just happy to be here’—I remember one conversation in particular where Colin was basically like, ‘I just want Linkin Park to be back in the world again, and I’ll do anything I can do to help make that happen.’ He was totally unaware that we were considering to ask him to join the band!”
