Pearl Jam have announced that they will release Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy, Volume 2 by Various Artists Working to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy later this week, featuring their new song “Get It Back.” David Byrne, Yoko Ono, The Postal Service, Jack Black’s Tenacious D, Jack Johnson, Arcade Fire, and Cold War Kids. Pearl Jam have kept busy during the pandemic forcing them to take a break from touring, though Eddie Vedder recently revealed his bad haircut.
Good Music To Avert The Collapse Of American Democracy, Volume 2 is a compilation made up entirely of previously-unreleased recordings from some of the most important names in music today. The album features never-before-heard new songs, covers, remixes, live versions, and unreleased demos from incredible artists across many genres. The collection will be available for 24 hours only, exclusively via Bandcamp, this Friday, October 2nd starting at 12:01am PT.
100% of the net proceeds from the album’s sales will go to Voting Rights Lab, a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that brings state advocacy, policy, and legislative expertise to secure, protect, and defend the voting rights of all Americans. Voting Rights Lab is a project of New Venture Fund.
The release of Volume 2 follows the success of Volume 1, which raised over $250,000 for voters’ rights work in its 24 hours of availability on September 4th – thank you to everyone who supported that release! When we decided to see if we could pull together this second volume, we weren’t sure we had time… and then almost everyone we asked delivered a track and there’s nearly twice as much music on Volume 2 as on the first. We’ve decided to match the $20.20 price of Volume 1, but we hope you’ll please consider donating more for Volume 2 via Bandcamp’s pay more option, if you’re able.
Also solely on October 2 to raise funds for Voting Rights Lab, we will be offering a limited-edition poster designed and signed by iconic filmmaker Sofia Coppola. Poster and compilation album sold separately.
