While recalling her childhood in a new episode of the podcast “Sibling Revelry” – hosted by Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson – Liv Tyler opened up about how her stepdad Todd Rundgren felt after discovering that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is her biological father.
Looking back at when they learned the truth about her biological dad, she stated that she believes Rundgren took the news “so hard.”
“I think it’s probably still very hard and painful,” Live said. “I don’t speak to him enough, I love him and I have brothers from him and I had a whole family with them. But I was a kid, so it was really hard because he was mad at my mom and then suddenly Steven was there and we did a paternity test and it was positive and so we moved to New York. I think I was 11 or 12.”
Liv continued, explaining that it wasn’t until she moved from Maine to New York that she was allowed to talk about who her real father is.
Speaking about the years prior to the news coming out, Liv says that Rundgren was a dedicated father to her.
“He took care of me as, like, he was dad,” she said, adding that she eventually came to terms with everything after realizing that she was surrounded by love. “I felt so much love,” Liv said. “I was able to soak up the love that I could.”
“I remember sitting there for what felt like three days, but it was probably three hours and just basically coming to this conclusion at the end of like, ‘Woah, I have two dads, and all this love and maybe there will be two Christmases. They’re … so different and so lovely.”
